Authentic styling with modern security. Chelton Secure™ locking, slim heritage handles and hinge options to suit traditional steel replacement windows.
Our patented Chelton Secure™ locking handle gives your windows the strength of steel and the best security available. The Chelton® handle actuates a modern multi-point lock, securing the window on up to three sides with six plus locking points. When combined with sash jammers to secure the hinge edge, you get all-round window security.
Two distinct handle styles are available, both designed to complement heritage windows while delivering modern performance and everyday usability.
A contemporary, slim and discreet handle design that blends into the window neatly. Its clean look suits a more modern interior while retaining an authentic external appearance.
Designed to look like traditional steel window handles, with a simple 1930s Art Deco style that works especially well on period properties and steel replacement projects.
Friction hinges are the standard hardware option for outward opening sashes, with variants available for fire escape, easy cleaning and restricted opening requirements.
The industry standard hinge. It remains open by means of friction in the hinge, allowing the window to stay open in any chosen position without the need for an old-fashioned peg and stay.
A fire escape hinge for windows over 350mm wide to help comply with Part B requirements. It can also slide across to allow cleaning of the outside glass.
A safety hinge that provides a restricted opening, typically between 7° and 16° depending on sash size, allowing ventilation while helping protect against accidental falling.
Optional heritage-style hinge choices for projects where appearance is just as important as function, especially on traditional steel replacement designs.
An optional extra designed to give the appearance of working butt hinges without the cleaning and safety considerations. The rollers are concealed by the overlapping sash.
A more authentic-looking option when open and closed. In the closed position the hinges interlock and act as sash jammers. Typically used with a peg and stay, and not recommended for upper floors.
Our Heritage Windows combine traditional styling with modern security features, helping to protect the home while preserving an authentic steel-look appearance.
Security is one of the main priorities when choosing new windows, which is why our Heritage Windows have been designed with protection built in as standard. From high strength hinges and key locking handles to sash jammers and modern multipoint locking, every detail is engineered to provide confidence and peace of mind.
Traditional aesthetics do not have to mean outdated performance. These windows offer authentic styling alongside practical features that help resist forced entry, improve internal glazing security and provide secure ventilation.
Windows are fitted with either high strength stainless steel friction stays or profile related butt hinges. Friction stays help secure the top and bottom of opening vents, while profile related butt hinges include interlocking elements that act like sash jammers to secure the hinge edge.
All handle options include a key locking facility as standard for added peace of mind. Even handles without an obvious key barrel feature concealed locking, using a grub screw within the back plate to prevent operation when locked.
On the Chelton handle range, the fixing screws are concealed beneath the glazing bead. The visible screws on Authentic handles are decorative only, meaning the handles cannot be removed to reach the locking mechanism without first de-glazing the window.
Heritage Windows are fitted with sash jammers, also known as vector excluders. These interlock when the window is closed to secure the hinge edge and provide added resistance against forced entry without affecting normal operation.
All sashes and dummy sashes are internally glazed, also referred to as internally beaded. This improves security because the glass can only be removed from inside the building. It also offers practical installation advantages on multi-storey projects.
Additional locking positions allow the window to remain slightly open while still locked. This creates ventilation for night use while helping to prevent unauthorised access through the opening.
Modern multipoint locking is available alongside traditional furniture such as Art Deco and Monkey Tail handles. Espag locking, Chelton Secure™ and Ste’alth Secure™ options can secure the opening sash on three sides in multiple positions for enhanced protection.
