These doors are bottom hung and sit on high strength rollers that can take sash weights of up to 200Kg. The hardwearing nylon rollers support the entire weight of the doors and when combined with the stainless steel track, result in a smooth gliding opening action. The rollers are concealed by the sliding sash, which overlaps and runs on the track like a monorail.
Duraslide 2000 aluminium sliding patio doors have been designed with security in mind, combining secure locking, anti-lift protection, robust frame design and high security glazing for confidence every day.
When anyone has new windows or doors installed in their home, security is always at the forefront of their mind. That is why our patio doors have been designed and manufactured with security in mind, delivering excellent security without compromise.
From high security multipoint locking and anti-lift protection through to mono-rail frame construction and high security glazing, each detail has been developed to help keep the system safe, secure and dependable.
These patio doors are fitted with high security multipoint locking as standard. The locking mechanism consists of four bi-directional hook locks, which fully secure the sliding panels and help prevent them from being lifted out of their track.
The mechanism is operated by lifting the small lever on the handle when the door is closed.
External sliding doors should ideally be fitted with an anti-lift device, and these doors use anti-lift blocks designed to prevent the sliding panels from being disengaged from the track — a common method of attack on patio doors.
Once the sliding sashes are inserted into the frame, this simple but effective device is fitted to the top and bottom of each sliding sash. It restricts movement, helps guide the panel smoothly and, when combined with the multipoint lock, greatly improves security.
The door panels slide on a mono-rail style track, which acts as both a guide and a security measure. The sliding sashes sit on the mono-rail shaped outerframe and track, which protrudes up into the sliding panels.
When closed, the sliding panel wraps over the outerframe jambs in a male-to-female coupling action, helping to conceal the locks and keeps. This makes the locking arrangement much harder to attack and also helps prevent the panels being lifted out of the frame.
When closed, the doors are secured by using a key to lock the cylinder, which then locks off the handle and prevents it from being used to operate the locking mechanism.
These cylinders are designed to be highly resistant to picking and drilling, helping to provide greater protection in everyday use.
These patio doors use a high security wrap-around glazing system, providing both added security and ease of installation. Because the sliding sashes are constructed around the sealed units, the glass can only be deglazed by removing the sliding sashes from the frame and deconstructing them.
Toughened safety glass is supplied as standard, and laminated security glass is also available as an upgrade for additional protection.
