Secondary Glazing - Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the common questions we get asked. If your question isn't listed here then call, fax or e-mail us.

Q Do you do shaped or curved secondary glazing?
Sorry, but no. Our systems are designed for high quality with fast and lower cost of manufacturing (and therefore lower price to you), but they are unable to be shaped or curved.

Q Do you do acoustic tiles?
We do not supply acoustic tiles. A brief search for these in your preferred search engine will find many specialist suppliers of these.

Q Which glass should I use?
The best glass for sound reduction is "Acoustic Stadip" but it is quite pricey. Standard "Float" glass is the cheapest, but you may find a useful extra improvement by specifying "Laminated" glass. You should see if you need to specify safety glass as this is a legal requirement when glass is low to the ground or nearby to doors - please check with your local council/building control.

Q What colours can I have?
White, brown and silver are a standard price. If you wish we can colour your frames in any RAL colour. RAL colours are an industry standard range of 200+ colours which are coded. E.G. RAL7011 is a battleship grey colour. When having your frames RAL coloured you may choose if the paint is to have a matt, semi-gloss or gloss finish.

Q I don't want a sub-frame - what are my options?
You can have either fixed panel secondary or economy-odd leg secondary. Both of these are designed to be fixed directly to the existing window frame.

Q Can I have trickle vents?
Yes, you can have trickle vents but only on our MDF 3 subframe system. They will be installed in a 360mm gap in the head section of the subframe.
