How To Choose - Overview of Durations Aluminium Secondary Glazing
There are two considerations when choosing your secondary glazing:
Firstly - you need to look at the existing window and note how it opens and see if there are bars going vertically or horizontally through the window. If you have a sash window that slides up and down then the sash window will have a horizontal bar half way down the window. In this instance our vertical sliding secondary glazing can be made to match these windows - with the horizontal bar in the same place as that on the existing window. With the bars on both the existing and secondary windows aligned - the secondary glazing blends in with the existing window.
We have horizontally sliding units, vertical sliding units, lift out units, hinged units and fixed units - so that we can match any existing window.
Secondly - you will need to decide which of the three Secondary Glazing systems you require. Bearing in mind the fact that, certain styles are unavailable in some of our Secondary Glazing systems (for example: Our Tilt Back Vertical Slider is only available with our Luxury Subframe system). The three systems available are our Economy Odd Leg system, our Luxury Subframe system and our Heavy Duty system.
The Economy system is at a lower cost than our Luxury Subframe system. This secondary glazing system is perfect for large commercial buildings, where it's lower cost can make a significant difference to your pocket. The Economy system has an odd leg flange that allows you to quickly and easily face fix the unit to the existing windows.

The Luxury Subframe system has a wooden sub-frame around the outside of the aluminium frame. The wooden subframe is easy to mount, comes with trims to cover your fixing screws and leaves you with a clean and tidy finish. You can face fix this Secondary Glazing system to your existing windows or mount it a small distance away from the window - attaching it to the "reveal". Subframe is generally most suited to residential fitment where a neat finish is very important.

The Heavy Duty system is designed to take double glazed sealed units. This makes it the ultimate Secondary Glazing system for noise reduction and heat insulation. This system is most suited to extreme situations where using Acoustic glass or Pilkington 'K' thermal glass and a 100mm air gap is not enough to reduce the noise and or heat loss to an acceptable level.
