Aluminium Secondary Glazing

We have one of the broadest ranges of bespoke Secondary Glazing in the UK. Secondary glazing involves adding an extra slim-line window in addition to your existing windows. It is a effective & cost efficient method of insulating / sound proofing your windows. If you’re worried about the ever increasing energy costs, then you could save around 10% on your heating bills. The Energy Saving Trust states that it is an ‘ideal solution if you are unable to fit double glazing’.

Secondary glazing is perfect for use in Listed Buildings and conservation areas. Made from strong light weight aluminium, it can be made to be very slim and discreet. Considered a reversible change, secondary glazing is recommended by English Heritage and the Listed Property Owners Club.

Secondary Glazing Guidance

Help Me Choose

There are two considerations when choosing your secondary glazing:

Firstly - you need to look at the existing window and note how it opens and see if there are bars going vertically or horizontally through the window. If you have a sash window that slides up and down then the sash window will have a horizontal bar half way down the window. In this instance our vertical sliding secondary glazing can be made to match these windows - with the horizontal bar in the same place as that on the existing window. With the bars on both the existing and secondary windows aligned - the secondary glazing blends in with the existing window.

We have horizontally sliding units, vertical sliding units, lift out units, hinged units and fixed units - so that we can match any existing window.

Secondly - you will need to decide which of the three secondary glazing systems you require. Bearing in mind the fact that, certain styles are unavailable in some of our secondary glazing systems (for example: Our Tilt Back Vertical Slider is only available with our Luxury Subframe system). The three systems available are our Economy Odd Leg system, our Luxury Subframe system and our Heavy Duty system.
